Orion Rozsa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life's challenges. With a compassionate approach, Orion focuses on fostering emotional well-being and resilience.
I received my Master’s degree in psychology from the University of San Francisco and completed my post-graduate training and licensure requirements in a variety of clinic, agency and outpatient settings in Sacramento. I am currently a post seminar candidate at the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California (PINC). I am also a current Board member for the Sacramento Psychoanalytic Society.
I have been in private practice in Sacramento for the last 10 years. I have extensive experience and training working with people who have various experiences of trauma, sexual/physical/emotional abuse histories, relationship problems, attachment issues, parent-child relational problems, self injurious behavior, compulsive behavior, depression and anxiety.
It is my goal to create a comfortable and safe environment we can work with together to achieve your goals.
I am a psychotherapist practicing in Sacramento, CA. Here you will find information about who I am and how I practice. It is my hope that it will help you to get a sense of my approach and whether we might work well together as ultimately the quality of the therapeutic alliance and relationship is one of the best predictors of a positive therapy outcome. I work with adults and adolescents in individual, couples and family therapy.
Using an interpersonal approach, my goal is to provide a setting that allows people to work on very private and difficult problems in order to live a more conscious, intentional and satisfying life. Through the exploration of patterns, choices, expectations, fantasies and motivations underlying our behavior, we can come to know ourselves more completely and begin to address barriers to getting our needs met or goals achieved. My therapeutic orientation considers this a collaborative process between patient and therapist that aims to relieve psychological distress and increase understanding and acceptance of the self. Each person’s journey is unique.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy explained
There are many different types of psychotherapy but my expertise is in psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy. This type of treatment is based on the formation of a close, strong connection between patient and therapist that allows the two of us to explore your thoughts, emotions, and distress in a way that feels safe. They also operate on the assumption that many of our feelings and motivations are unconscious or out of our awareness.
Psychodynamic/psychoanalytic psychotherapy can help to provide the necessary safety and guidance to bring our more complete emotional experience into awareness, thus enabling us to live more fulfilled, satisfying lives. This kind of treatment works for a broad constellation of difficulties, including depression, anxiety, stress, anger, problems with relationships, repetitive damaging patterns or behaviors and chronic feelings of inadequacy or emptiness. That said, this type of therapy is hard work and not a quick fix. Though the resultant positive change can be powerful and long-lasting, it typically develops over months or years. This kind of treatment is best considered an investment in the self.

The majority of my practice is individual therapy. Personally I believe anyone can benefit but typically people come when they find themselves in a degree of crisis. If you are on the fence about starting therapy my suggestion is come now. Once we are in crisis we have to stabilize before we can work on the underlying issues. We are most capable of insight and adaptive behavior when we are stabilized which is the long term goal of treatment.
Couples work is a unique opportunity. While again most couples come to treatment while in crisis, the potential long term benefits of this work are very valuable. Most of our unconscious and conscious conflicts are alive and working in our most intimate relationships. Relationships are the family we choose but frequently there as aspects of our early family systems involved in that selection process. The good news is that we are not children anymore and can work on the system problems in a new and healthier way than we could as children. Additionally, we all benefit enormously from a secure attachment and base so if we can stabilize home we have more capacity to face other challenges in our personal and professional lives.
Modern psychoanalysis is a therapeutic approach that builds on the foundational concepts of traditional psychoanalysis, such as the influence of the unconscious mind and early childhood experiences on behavior. It incorporates contemporary insights from psychology and considers factors like interpersonal relationships, social context, and individual personality. Modern psychoanalysis often involves a more interactive dialogue between therapist and patient, focusing on present-day issues and emotions alongside past experiences, aiming to foster self-awareness and personal growth.
Appointments are 50 minutes, and my standard fee is $175 for individual therapy and $250 for couples and family/group therapy. You are expected to pay for the first visit and we will then negotiate ongoing payment arrangements. My fee may be subject to adjustment with advanced notice.
Scheduling. Appointment schedules and times are negotiated following our initial assessment. If you need to cancel or re-schedule an appointment, I request that you provide me with at least 24 hours notice in order to allow me the opportunity to plan accordingly. You may be billed for missed sessions which you did not provide proper notice for. If you know you there is a time you cannot attend your session, I ask that you let me know in advance so that I can have a chance to fill that time. Exceptions for extenuating circumstances will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Insurance. I am not currently paneled with any insurance providers. I do provide statements if requested so patients can submit for partial or full reimbursement as an out-of-network provider. Ability to obtain reimbursement will depend on your insurance provider and details of your policy.
